New flying Piggies

December 7, 2011

Well as busy and distant as I’ve been, I have at least been trying to do some art. I have finally listed my new flying pigs canvases. Here they are…..

Fly Piggy Fly

When pigs fly

I have been working out at least an hour a day. Well most days anyway. I’m off to Cancun in 2 weeks and the pressure is on. Well it’s been on for a while. This is the longest I have ever managed to continue to work out for.
The problem is I haven’t seen much difference ( if any) on the scale. But I have taken photos at day 1 and day 30 and Now I’m technically at day 49 because I’ve missed a few days . and I DO see a difference in the photos, so I’m forcing myself to stay with the program darn it!!!!

I could post them……. but I just can’t. Maybe I will at day 90 or so, when I’m absolutely ripped or something.

Illustration friday- Mysterious

September 8, 2011

Well, I’m just getting in my IF post before the midnight deadline… Oops. I always mean to be on time. Instead I’m always a little tardy!!!!

My Mum  always used to say….. “Collette was born 3 weeks late and she’s never been early since!!!!”

Which is not entirely true, because my husband is a little anal over time, so I’m much better now.

Here’s my post. mysterious.

So, is this a mystery?

Say what you will. I know he’s one of my Flying Piggies so he has wings.. But it’s still a mystery how he fits in the nest. Poor chicks  and why he thinks he belongs there at all.

He’s made from paint and paper on a canvas… He was lots of fun to make. The leaves are cut from one of my  birthday cards this year. I loved the colour of the card.

I’ll be back tomorrow with an update on my dog Blue… since we’ve given her jellyfish supplements she’s a frickin’ genius.

Works in Progress

June 23, 2011

I made a quick video. I was totally experimenting with my son’s flip camera. I’m still not sure why I did it! I guess I’m practicing for when I finally make my little flying pig tutorial, which is coming soon, as I’m trying to figure it all out. You can see a picture below.

I was making a video of  a painting I’m making for 100 Illustrations,  they are looking for 100 favourite  foods and I got distracted and started showing some of the other work I’m working on right now….  You can see the food painting I’m working on. It’s soft-boiled egg and marmite soldiers, which are strips cut from toast spread with  butter and marmite. Yum! and served with nice cuppa ( English tea)

I love this photo and I've started a painting of these two sweet owls. You get a peek in the video

Flying piggies and an elephant tutorial coming soon.

I saw this sweet photo on a top picks website, it didn’t have any photo credits, so if it’s yours, I’m sorry, But I love it and wanted to share it.

Don’t eat the Jalapenos…

June 13, 2011

I came home to this the other day. To be honest I thought my husband was getting back at me because I left a note on the grapes, saying Don’t eat, save for lunch tomorrow. There were only a few grapes left and I really didn’t want to go shopping for more grapes for the boy’s lunches.

So I saw this note.

Don't eat me!!!!

jalapeno are a new food for me. I really like them. Not in the same way as My husband who has either jalapeno or tabasco on everything. EVERYTHING!  Personally I think he’s burnt his taste buds off and needs spice on everything now. (well obviously not pancakes or stuff like that)

The reason was… here get closer and you can see  another picture. If you look closely you will see a maggot swimming in the jalapeno juice. Gross!

I’m not sure how anyone would ever find it. Except Jack was getting something out of the fridge and it was eye level and he saw the little bugger, I guess magnified by the glass. It was actually very  hard to capture with my camera…. Ewww it does make me shudder. I’m not  sure if I’ll continue my new love of jalapeno or not!

I don’t want to end on such a yucky note so here are some paintings I’ve just finished. Nothing to do with spicy anything.

Beach Days... I might add words.... I can never think of any though.

Really Pig? I know you can fly, but.......

One year ago……Today

March 7, 2011

Wow, time flies.

When I wrote my very first post , I thought, “Who would want to read what I write, see what I paint. listen to what I have to say.”

Instead I must say it’s been a journey. A lovely journey. Through the world of blogs.  I’ve encountered incredibly talented, creative, supportive, wise and wonderful people. And I love it. I feel I’ve got a sense of my creative side again.

I’ve learnt about so many new things, I’ve taken classes I would never have known about. I’ve signed up to go to Artfest. I’m so excited. A year ago I had never have heard of Artfest. I’ve been making trades to take there, here’s a peek…  Flying Pigs seem to be my things right now and of course mermaids as always. But flying pigs make me feel anything is possible.

Artfest Trades

I had every intention of having a ‘One Year Giveaway.’  But I didn’t have my act together . So hopefully next week, while I’m swept up with the creative muse, I’ll have something finished.

Here are some pictures I’ve been meaning to post for a while. ( I used my hipstamatic camera app, which I love ) I took them when my friend Tracy came to visit  from the UK.  We had so much fun. We saw Mama Mia, We walked around the city the whole weekend. ( She made me and there was still so much snow in the city.) My husband and son’s were skiing.

Before I moved to the states I used to watch the steam shooting up into the streets as the cars drove by, in shows like Cagney and Lacey. I was always fascinated by this.

ending with a lovely glass of wine...

Thanks to You

February 9, 2011

First of all I want to say  thankyou  SO much to Sylvia from Baxter’s Mom Blog. She gave me a blog award.. So sweet thank you Sylvia. It was a week or so ago and I have not been to blog world for a while. Sorry.  Sylvia has a wonderful blog herself which I follow, through google reader.  She also has a new puppy. AW. So cute, check it out She is also a  great artist. I love her mixed media hearts.

I have to say a few things about myself that you may not know. Hmmm…

I’m from England, and have been here in New York for quite a while. Everyone thought I was my daughter’s Nanny when she was little.

I still have problems when I ask for a glass of water in restaraunts.(Glarse of Wahtur) my kids usually have to say it for me in the end.

I do not love listening to jokes. I never laugh appropriately at the punch line. It’s embarrassing. I do however love  funny true stories that people tell, embellishments and all.

I unfortunately laugh if I see people fall over, slip etc. My kids think I’m a terrible mum when I laugh at them. I truly can’t help it. I don’t know what’s wrong with me. It truly is awful.

I once revived a fly that was drowning in the swimming pool. Not mouth to mouth but there was gentle blowing involved.

I can’t play trivial pursuit. I know the answer when it’s someone else’s turn, but freeze like a deer in headlights when I’m asked the question. Something to do with all the attention I’m sure.

I once saved a baby mole in the driveway and it bit me.

When my daughter was 3 we caught newts from a lake in upstate New York. We took them home, much to my brothers annoyance. they proceeded to live for 16 years.  Pah I say to my brother.

Anyway, Thanks to Sylvia, again I’ve decided to go forward and force myself to work on my Etsy Shop. It’s there, but it has just one print in it. I’m so lame. It’s so nerve-racking to put myself out there. I should be brave. I know. Take the plunge and all that. So Sylvia said some  lovely things about my  Flying Pig,”Fly Pig Fly” so I decided to jump in.

Graduation, dogs and art.

June 23, 2010

Well, my youngest  had his graduation ceremony today. It was lovely.  It was a little hot with everyone packed into a small auditorium without  air conditioning. I’m almost positive, Thank goodness for the  brochure  that we all used to fan ourselves. We rushed to lunch and then back again for the 5th grade party. with a DJ, dancers and sunglasses giveaways. Ooooo!

As Yearbook Chair, I was excited to hand out the yearbooks… The kids get so excited, which makes me feel great about the work we put into the book.

My dogs have been cute and crazy, I have a video of the excitement at “Walk Time”. When Jasper gets So excited he grabs Blue’s lead and tries to take her for a walk. I just have to edit it and take out my horrible voice.

Here’s a picture of jasper laughing. I’m serious he looks like he’s chuckling. (He definitely was)

Don't tell me he's not laughing.

I’m obsessed with song by Michael Posner right now, called “You think you’re cooler than me. ” I love it. I listen to it over and over and over.

I’ve been working on some paintings, all minis. I don’t think that will help me with my art show. I  have all sorts of ideas about painting and collageing, I just  can’t quite seem to stay on one path.

Here’s a pig I made. I do love flying pigs.

It’s a little washed out, I like that. It started about being brighter.
