100 illustrations

100 Illustrations is a blog that is asking for submission of your favourite foods and then they publish it in a book. check it out.

I’ve been accepting more and more challenges lately, so i decided to submit this:

marmite soldiers ......

For anyone who’s confused, let me explain. soft-boiled egg, that’s obvious. The marmite soldiers are either toast and butter or bread and butter, ( your preference) with marmite smeared on and cut into 3 or 4 slices. Marmite is a beefy, tasty goodness . I love it. I think they strips of toast are called soldiers because they are straight. I would say almost any english child knows that. Although they did when I was a kid.

When anyone visits me from England I always ask them to bring me marmite. Although none of my family here like it. They only like the chocolate digestive biscuits that I ask for as well. which are delicious. Of course this is usually paired with a nice cup of tea. Β or a nice cuppa. I thought cuppa was obvious until my really good (american) friend was a little confused . Sorry!

marmite... yum.
