Illustration friday- Mysterious

September 8, 2011

Well, I’m just getting in my IF post before the midnight deadline… Oops. I always mean to be on time. Instead I’m always a little tardy!!!!

My Mum  always used to say….. “Collette was born 3 weeks late and she’s never been early since!!!!”

Which is not entirely true, because my husband is a little anal over time, so I’m much better now.

Here’s my post. mysterious.

So, is this a mystery?

Say what you will. I know he’s one of my Flying Piggies so he has wings.. But it’s still a mystery how he fits in the nest. Poor chicks  and why he thinks he belongs there at all.

He’s made from paint and paper on a canvas… He was lots of fun to make. The leaves are cut from one of my  birthday cards this year. I loved the colour of the card.

I’ll be back tomorrow with an update on my dog Blue… since we’ve given her jellyfish supplements she’s a frickin’ genius.

Illustration Friday- Launch

June 21, 2011

Here’s my post for IF. Look how early I am, I usually just manage to get it in by the Thursday night deadline.

I have been busy getting my boys ready for camp. They are so excited to go. They leave this  coming Saturday. But their bags were picked up Saturday just gone. It was all I could think about. My living room was cluttered with their stuff. So messy. It still is as I haven’t been motivated to really clean. But I’ll get to it….. eventually. When I get my energy back.

So this week is all about doing fun stuff and Jack taking his regents exams.

Which means I didn’t have time to make a new IF so I’m using an older painting of mine. It’s of one of my flying pigs, and it’s called

“Fly Pig Fly”.

This was one of my first flying pigs,  and maybe my favourite..  He’s so happy, and pleased with himself. Pleased as punch, I guess you could say, that he launched himself in to the air.!!!!!!!  See that , did you see how I used launch.

Illustration Friday- Asleep

June 2, 2011

I feel like I’m cheating because  I have posted this before. But it’s so perfect for asleep…… I just had to post it again……

Sorry!

I used to stalk the illustration Friday site for a long time before I actually posted anything, marvelling at everyone’s excellent work. Eventually I plucked up courage and I think this may have been one of my first posts. So maybe no one will remember.

Asleep......Zzzzzzzzz

While I’m at it I have a few others to post. Not  really for illustration friday, but one was a second safari picture I did of the same elephant from last week. I couldn’t really commit to one design ( what’s new) so I did both.

safari elephant 2

Hmm,  maybe that bird looks a little sleepy. I’m not sure if the print is too harsh on the elephant!

And last but not least a girl I’ve been working on from an art class I took with Christy Tomlinson online. I’m really enjoying the pink and orange. I’ve had so much fun and now I’m ready to explore with a whole bunch of new tools under my belt. So many ideas, so little time. You know how it is. I just have to remember to write the ideas down as they pop into my head.

I think the sun will make her sleepy before long.

I’m sitting here, ready for bed.  I’m so tired but I had to go to an important soccer meeting which didn’t end until 11,20. I’m so tired. Wahhh.  However just before i went a croissant set alight in my toaster oven. Thank god I alwyas tell the kids not to cook and definitely nt to use that when I’m out. (now they know i wasn;t just nagging. My house still smells of smoke. The stupid fire extinguisher didnt work…

So as the flames grew I managed to unplug the thing, and with my oven mitts i put the firey toaster oven  with the door shut thank goodness  but it was starting to melt)  in my pampered chef big pizza stone and tried not to trip over the dogs as I made my way to the garden, and there we doused it with water.  A little scary. My house stinks of smoke. It’s all in the back of my throat . Yuk. I was a little shaky afterwards… but we were lucky. Lucky I was in the room , lucky I was home,  Lucky in so many ways. ( my lovely In-laws house burnt down a few years ago. They were in it at the time, but they were so lucky too.)

Opening Night Success… Phew!

July 8, 2010

Well, I’ve been crazy busy with work and getting ready for my art show. I even have hung some last-minute paintings as they were drying.

But I tend to be a “last-minute Lucy”, anyway.

On the insistence of a Bestest friend,  I ‘”put myself out there” and sent that email letting everyone know what was going on, time, place, and  date of opening. I was very happy she was right as so many of my friends came to the opening. ( there was wine) It was very sweet.

Some never really knew I painted.

However the best part were the Margaritas after. Delicious, frozen strawberry  Margaritas by the pitcher. Yum.

Sit Pig Sit

I am loving flying pigs right now. I can t seem to stop painting them. I’ve always loved flying pigs, even as a little girl. And Mermaids of course.

I used to read a book to my daughter when she was little. Over 15 years ago. It was a black and white book about a flying pig. We used to borrow it from the library. I’ve since tried to look for it but it’s out of print. I can’t even remember the name of the author. I loved the books and the illustrations.
